Last thursday we had a bird watching trip arround the Albufera de Valencia with Petri and Annuka, two experienced birders from Finland.
We parked our car at the local port of the Gola de Pujol and kept walking for watching birds of the Estany de Pujol, sand dunes and pine trees of the Devesa de El Saler. Audouin’s Gull, Little Tern, Black-Winged Stilt, Kentish Plover, Great Crested Grebe, Fan Tailed-Warbler, Turtle Dove, Spotted Flycatcher and Penduline Tit were some of our sightings.
After that we went to the Palmar’s local port for the typical boat trip and watch wetlands birds of the Albufera Lagoon. We were very lucky to have nice views of hundreds of Glossy Ibis flying overhead, Grey and Purple Heron, Night Heron, Flamingos and Little Bittern.
We ended our trip at the rice fields, watching Whiskered Terns, Tree Sparrow, Reed Warbler and a lot of Moorhens.
Many thanks to Petri, Annuka and also Pepa for your confidence. It has been a pleasure.
